Golden rules
- Pay inside Vrbo checkout; ignore off-site payment requests.
- Keep all communication on Vrbo for a clear record.
- Read cancellation policy and payment schedule before confirming.
Deposits, balances & holds
Some listings split payment (deposit now, balance later). A refundable damage deposit or a pre-authorisation (“hold”) may appear as pending; it drops automatically if no claim occurs. Check the amount and release window in your itinerary.
Refunds: how long?
Once processed, UK card networks usually show refunds within 3–10 business days. If it’s missing, ask support for the refund ID and contact your bank with it.
Payment failed? Quick checks
- Re-enter card details and approve 3-D Secure in your banking app.
- Try another card; raise daily limits temporarily if needed.
- Ensure the dates are still available; calendars change quickly.
- Disable VPN/ad-blockers that might break 3-D Secure redirects.
Security notes
- Avoid “discount for bank transfer” offers — red flag.
- Verify payout/billing changes only inside your account.
- Never send full card details in chat.
Tip: Your bank can locate a stale hold if you provide the authorisation code from Vrbo/payment processor.
